Southern Vietnam sculpture festival goes smoothly |

The int’l sculpture symposium in southern An Giang province, on for three weeks now, showcases the works of 60 sculptors working in stone, brass, and clay according to an official. Head of the “An Giang Hallmark II – 2005” symposium, Nguyen Quoc Thang said he had created favorable conditions for international and domestic participants from board and bed to sculptural equipment and leisure activities like visits to local places of interests. After the festival is over, a VND10 billion (US$625,000) Sculpture Garden Park will be built featuring about 100 artworks from the two previous symposiums. The park will be a valuable artistic venue of Chau Doc township, a destination for tourists to An Giang province, replete with historical and cultural vestiges. The VND6 billion (US$375,000) international sculpture symposium is set to run from Oct. 31 to Dec. 10 in Mekong Delta’s An Giang province.
