The stall promoting tourism in central Quang Nam Province 2006 at the Ubon International Exhibition Fair in Thailand attracted some keen interest from fair goers.
Quang Nam tourism promoters attended the Ubon International Exhibition Fair in Thailand from August 29 to September 5, 2005, plugging their “Tourism and handicraft villages” theme to market the Quang Nam Tourism Year 2006.
The province presented its unique tourism products at the fair, including two world cultural heritage sites – the My Son Cham Towers and Hoi An Ancient Town, Cua Dai sea, Cu Lao Cham, tourist sites in Phu Ninh, the Chu Lai open economic zone, sea resorts as well as handicraft villages like Kim Bong carpentry village, Phuoc Kieu casting village, Tra Que vegetable village and Ma Chau silk village.
According to Ho Tan Cuong, Deputy Director of the Quang Nam Tourism Department, eight Thai travel firms and hotels met with Quang Nam tourism officials to discuss facilitation of tours from the northeastern region of Thailand to Quang Nam. They placed particular interest on cooperation in organizing overland tours from Mukdakhan (Thailand) to Savannakhet (Laos) through the Lao Bao border gate to Hue, Danang and Hoi An.
The province received 855,000 visitors, including 361,000 foreign tourists over the past eight months, earning around VND180bil, 64.4% up year on year.
